A Few of My Favorite Things

Tools To Get Started

  • DMC Floss – Any color you could possibly want, they have!
  • FriXion Pens – These are great for transferring using a light box or bright window. Simply draw on your fabric with the pen, stitch your piece, and then use a hair dryer to make the pen marks magically disappear!
  • Sulky Printable/Dissolvable Stabilizer – You can resize your piece to whatever hoop size you are using and then print directly on this stick-on stabilizer. Apply the design to your fabric, stitch, and then dissolve the stabilizer off in hot water. You will have to iron your piece after it’s dried, though. That’s the one downside, but this is so easy to use.
  • Caydo 6″ Embroidery Hoops – These are my favorite hoops to use. They’re smooth and never fail me. They come in all kinds of sizes, but 6″ is a pretty standard size.
  • Kai 4″ Curved Tip Needlecraft Scissors – I love these scissors so much. The curved tip is good for pulling up stitches when you have a boo-boo!
  • Kai 5.5″ Scissors – These are brilliant for cutting larger pieces of fabric or cutting out felt.
  • Project Case – Y’all, this was my favorite find of the year. These plastic project cases are the perfect size for holding on to everything you need for a WIP. And then you can grab & go when you take your pieces on the road.
  • Light Box – For transferring patterns to fabric, this is a must. I recently splurged on this one, but I don’t regret it at all. It’s superior to the other one I had. Though it wasn’t terrible.
